I get it but don’t get how to apply this info. Mainly I don’t get how different modes are supposed to sound different if they’re all based off the same scale?

This is true. Lately I've been feeling kinda down and its been a bit hard to pick up my bass. But when I do, I always feel great. I'm often hard on myself about the way I practice since I am mostly self taught and I often feel exactly how you described; like I'm not making any progress. You are an inspiration to me though, as I'm sure you are to others. Now I'm going to do exactly as you said and make some noise. That should remedy the blues a bit.

This might be controversial but as a six string bass player, the best way to see it is like a four string with two extra strings. Unlike a six string guitar the tuning is simple. Having said that you can tune a guitar anyway you like

So you’re saying that you’re harmonizing the c major pentatonic scale, using a particular chord voicing going up the neck, is that right? As long as you play a C major pentatonic scale against the voicing, all is cool? Nice!

GREAT CHANNEL ! Love the lessons. I've been playing bass since 1980... hole in the wall bars, cover bands, tributes, semi-professionally, festival stages and just about everything in between but probably couldn't tell you what a major / minor / diminished scale should look like on the fretboard even though I probably know what it sounds like in my head. I too am a 'ear dictates where the fingers go' player but now can take it up a notch thanks to your knowledge sharing. Great stuff. I appreciate you.

Been playing for a long time but never with metronome until recently, and I find these suggestions make an incredible amount of sense, and really help me. Foot tapping is distracting and I get lost in the count when I try to do it verbally while playing, but I can feel the beat pretty well by swaying to it, and I don't get lost or distracted. Thanks again, Rich, for another helpful lesson!
